Michael Cassara, DO, MSEd, FACEP, CHSE

Dr. Michael Cassara is Associate Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. He serves as Medical Director and Vice President for Interprofessional Education, Research and Practice at the Center for Learning and Innovation, Northwell’s corporate university and organizational simulation hub. He is clinically trained in Emergency Medicine and has subspecialty expertise in health professions education, curriculum development, educational research/scholarship, and simulation. He is the Founding Director and Director of Research and Scholarship for the Emergency Medicine Service Line Simulation Fellowship. Dr. Cassara has served as faculty for the Harvard Macy Institute and has held leadership positions in the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (including its Simulation Academy) and Society for Simulation in Healthcare. He has won numerous awards over his career for his teaching and editorial work, including induction into the Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine Academy for Scholarship and top Associate Editor/Reviewer Awards for MedEdPORTAL and Simulation in Healthcare. Currently, Dr. Cassara is pursuing post-Masters pre-PhD coursework at the Maastricht University School of Health Professions Education with plans to enter the PhD program in 2026.
