- Ensure emergency medicine is recognized and valued as an essential public service.
Values & Guiding Principles: Our work is guided by fundamental values that inform what we do and guide our work.
Patient Centeredness: Quality emergency care is a fundamental right and unobstructed access to emergency services should be available to all patients who perceive the need for emergency services.
Physician Excellence: Physicians entering the practice of emergency medicine should be residency trained in emergency medicine and ready to champion best practices and evidence- based methods to provide outstanding patient care.
Leadership: We believe that emergency physicians have the responsibility to play the lead roles in the definition, management, evaluation, and improvement of quality emergency care.
Collaboration and Work Environment: The best interests of our members and patients are served when emergency physicians practice in a fair, equitable, and supportive environment.
