We do this through the work of our Government Relations Committee, our Council, our contract lobbyist(s), our Executive Director, and individual members at the grassroots level.

Our advocacy positions can range from monitoring, interested party, support, active support, opposition and active opposition, depending upon the nature of the subject and the impact that the proposed legislation will have on our patients and our profession.

Ohio's 136th General Assembly (Jan. 1, 2025 to Dec. 31, 2026) is underway and the OPPA is working diligently
on a number of bills/issues:

HB 214 - Prior Authorization "Gold Card"

HB 219 - Network Adequacy

HB 220 - Prior Authorization Retroactive Denials, Peer to Peer and Appeals

SB 160 - Non-Medical Switching

SB 162 - Takebacks/Clawbacks

SB 164 - Transparency in Health Plan Use of Artificial Intelligence

SB 165 - Automatic Downcoding

SB 166 - No Fees for Electronic Funds Transfers
