Ohio ACEP President Dr. Ryan Squier, on behalf of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Ohio Chapter (Ohio ACEP), testified in support of HB 270 in front of members of the House Insurance Committee. House Bill 270 will strengthen Ohio’s prudent layperson standard, require insurers to conduct an emergency physician review of a claim before denying or reducing reimbursement for an emergency services claim and require insurers to inform and educate their enrollees about their coverage of emergency services. In Dr. Squier’s proponent testimony he emphasized the importance of this bill to protect patients and ensure access to care.
