Ohio Medicaid Offers Testing Sessions for ICD-10 Switch

Ohio Medicaid is offering in-person sessions in Columbus for Ohio Medicaid providers who currently submit claims through the Medicaid Information Technology System (MITS). At the sessions, providers will be able to test their currently coded ICD-9 claims with ICD-10.

The final “ICD-10 MITS Web Portal Preparation” session is scheduled for September 29. Providers can participate in the sessions by:

  1. Selecting a date from Ohio Department of Medicaid’s training calendar; and then
  2. Emailing the following information to ombudsmen_training@medicaid.ohio.gov:
  1. Name of Class – “ICD-10 MITS Web Portal Preparation"
  2. Name of participant(s)
  3. Provider name
  4. Provider number
  5. National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Important: Providers registering for the ICD-10 MITS Web Portal Preparation sessions need to bring claims already coded in ICD-9 along with their ICD-10 translations. This will allow providers to compare the same claims coded in ICD-9 with claims coded in ICD-10. Ohio Medicaid will not be able to provide test claims or translations.

In an effort to help our members meet the ICD-10 implementation deadline on October 1, Ohio ACEP has also set up a webpage where we have compiled ICD-10 transition resources, including FAQs, recent news, and guidance from sources like CMS, Ohio Medicaid, and ACEP.
