Ohio ACEP Board of Directors Candidate

Matthew J. Sanders, DO, FACEP—Incumbent

Springboro, Ohio

Dr. Matthew Sanders is currently serving as Associate Medical Director of the Emergency Trauma Center at Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, Ohio. Previously, Dr. Sanders served as an Assistant Medical Director in the Emergency Department at Memorial Hospital of Union County in Marysville, Ohio, where he was involved in teaching emergency medicine to Ohio State University medical students who rotated through Memorial.

Dr. Sanders is a graduate of Ohio ACEP’s Leadership Development Academy and has represented the Chapter as an Alternate Councillor at the 2011 ACEP Council and as a Councillor for the last three Council meetings.

As an incumbent member of the Ohio ACEP Board of Directors, Dr. Sanders has served as Chair and Co-chair of the Government Affairs Committee. He has been actively involved in local and state advocacy in the fight against Ohio’s prescription opioid abuse epidemic by representing his group at the Central Ohio Emergency Department Workgroup and representing Ohio ACEP at the Governor’s Cabinet Opiate Action Team during development of the state’s Opioids and Other Controlled Substances (OOCS) Emergency Department Prescribing Guidelines.

Dr. Sanders is running for reelection to continue to passionately advocate for professional liability reform, and he hopes to explore and help to implement solutions to psychiatric patient boarding in Ohio’s emergency departments.
