Ohio ACEP Board of Directors Candidate

Mary Hancock MD FACEPMary Hancock, MD, FACEP

Elyria, Ohio

Dr. Mary Hancock has practiced in a variety of environments—academic, urban, rural, urgent care, and community. She has held numerous leadership roles and responsibilities in varying aspects of emergency medicine and medicine in general. Dr. Hancock is currently an attending physician practicing at a free-standing emergency department which will become part of a full hospital in 2016.

At the national level, Dr. Hancock has served ACEP as Chair of the Violence Prevention Committee and as Co-chair of the Public Health Committee. She is deeply involved in pre-hospital emergency care and serves on multiple International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) committees, including the Global Development Committee, Chapter Support Committee, and Conference Planning Committee. She is also the Medical Director for the Ohio Chapter of ITLS.

In addition, she has served Ohio ACEP on its Board of Directors and as Chapter Secretary and then as Chapter President. During her time on the Board and as President, Dr. Hancock helped to found Ohio ACEP’s Leadership Development Academy.

Dr. Hancock is interested in returning to the Board so that she can interact with EMS and ITLS in a more formal manner. She is also interested in leadership development and would be glad to return to active work with the Chapter’s Leadership Development Academy. If elected, she also looks forward to becoming more involved in advocating for emergency medicine and for quality patient care.
