2025 Ohio DO Day
Make Your Voice Heard at the Statehouse
Thank you to the DOs and students who joined us October 28, in Columbus for Ohio DO Day 2025 and for the legislative advocacy they engaged in to elevate the osteopathic voice at the Ohio Statehouse.
Participants attended a hearing of the Senate Health Committee at which OOA leaders provided a presentation on the state of osteopathic medicine in Ohio and fielded questions from lawmakers. After a tour of the governor's ceremonial office, our advocates heard from Sen. Terry Johnson, DO, over lunch. The afternoon was filled with meetings with lawmakers. The group was divided into regions to target their conversations to the representatives and senators that serve them.
In their meetings with lawmakers, participants talked about:
- Strengthening the Physician Workforce in Ohio by Supporting the Osteopathic Medicine Equivalency Act
- Ending the Practice of Non-Medical Switching: Support SB 160
- Protect Patient Access by Reforming Non-Compete Agreements in Healthcare: Support SB 301
- Preserve the Physician-Led, Team-Based Care Model: Oppose HB 353
