Special Liability Protection for Emergency Care Providers

Access to Emergency and Disaster Care Talking Points Special Liability Protection for Emergency Care Providers
Ohio ACEP is pleased to be working with Senator Steve Buehrer on a new bill to be introduced to the Ohio legislature in the near future, "Access to Emergency and Disaster Care". The purpose of this bill is to improve every patient's access to the highest quality emergency and disaster care and will help patients in the State of Ohio by encouraging participation in medical care, and providing appropriately limited liability for dedicated medical providers who provide emergency care under EMTALA requirements. The proposed legislation grants qualified limited immunity to a physician who provides emergency medical service in compliance with the federal EMTALA mandate or as a result of disaster.

What can you do now to support this effort?

We are first working with Senator Buehrer to seek co-sponsors and support for the bill in the Ohio Senate.

Contact YOUR Ohio State Senator  and ask if he/she will please join Senator Buehrer and support Ohioan's Access to Emergency and Disaster Care and Ohio's emergency physicians by co-sponsoring this important bill. Who's My State Senator?

Review the draft legislation, talking points and sample letter. Feel free to use these talking points and sample letter in sharing your support with your Ohio Senator.
