During this year's Scientific Assembly, an unprecedented advocacy effort is taking place The Rally at the US Capitol, September 27, at 10 a.m. ACEP is issuing a call to action for all of those planning to attend: Bring your white coat and be a part of this defining moment in emergency medicine.

"Your attendance will make a difference," says ACEP President Robert E. Suter, DO, MHA, FACEP. "During this Scientific Assembly you will be able to participate in a truly historic moment, when emergency medicine specialists will stand up and make our presence known and our voices heard.

"Our health care system is in crisis and we will be calling on our members and colleagues in the emergency medicine community to stand with us for the sake of our patients."

ACEP and its supporters plan to urge Congress to pass legislation that will:

*End the boarding of admitted patients in hospital EDs
*Support emergency medical care as an essential public service
*Solve the medical liability crisis in emergency care

"We are encouraging all Scientific Assembly attendees to plan to be at this event," Dr. Suter adds.

Dr. Suter encourages members of the Ohio chapter to stand up and be counted for the patients we serve and the profession. Encourage your friends and colleagues to meet you on the West Lawn and tell Congress that something needs to be done in our EDs, in Ohio, and in our nation.
