Emergency Physician of the Year

The Ohio Chapter ACEP Emergency Physician of the Year Award recognizes clinicians of exceptional merit. Through this award, Ohio ACEP encourages members to pursue the ideals of emergency medicine and conveys these same ideals to the public through the news media.

Criteria for Emergency Physician of the Year are as follows:
a.Current member of Ohio Chapter ACEP
b.Outstanding emergency physician role model
c.Maintains high professional standards and clinical orientation
d.Provision of high quality health care
e.Active in community service and education

Ohio Chapter ACEP policy permits nominations from any Ohio Chapter ACEP member. To nominate an individual, you should send a letter specifying the individual and award to: Ohio Chapter ACEP, 3510 Snouffer Road, Suite 100, Columbus, Ohio 43235.

Individuals who were nominated but not selected may be nominated in subsequent years, and any member may be re-nominated any number of times. The deadline for submission of nominations is May 1, 2005. Upon nomination, Ohio Chapter ACEP will request nominees to submit a current curriculum vitae and any other information they believe should be considered. Current and past members of the Ohio Chapter ACEP Board of Directors and officers are not eligible for the award.

Nominees will be reviewed and selected by the Ohio Chapter ACEP Awards Committee with the approval of the Board of Directors. The winner must make available, one month prior to the meeting, a digital photograph for publication announcement.

The award will be presented at the July 18, 2005 President's Banquet and Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the Second Annual Ohio ACEP Summer Symposium. The winner will receive a plaque and a $1,000 check in the Emergency Physician of the Year's name to a charity designated by the winner. The charity must be approved by the Ohio Chapter ACEP Executive Committee. The winner must submit potential charities in writing.

Bill Hall Award for Service to Ohio Chapter ACEP

The Bill Hall Award is named in honor of Dr. Bill Hall who served as Ohio Chapter ACEP President from 1974 to 1975 and as Treasurer from 1979-1985. The Award has been presented 15 times to individuals who have made significant contribution to Ohio Chapter ACEP or the field of emergency medicine through the selfless giving of time, dedication and enthusiasm.

The 2005 Bill Hall Award will be presented at the Ohio Chapter ACEP Annual Meeting, held in conjunction with the Second Annual Ohio Chapter ACEP Summer Symposium.

The criteria for the Bill Hall Award for Service to Ohio Chapter ACEP are as follows:

1.Current or former member of Ohio Chapter ACEP
2.Current or former member of the Board of Directors
3.Made a significant contribution to Emergency Medicine
4.Made a significant contribution to Ohio Chapter ACEP

b.Officer position
c.Course Director
d.Years of service
5.The emergency physician should reflect the character of Dr. William Hall, such as selfless giving of time and enthusiasm for patient care
