ITLS Ohio Mourns Loss of Trauma Education Pioneer

Mayer A. Glimcher, 1934-2017

 

It is with sadness that we report the passing of a leader in the field of trauma education, Mayer A. Glimcher, age 83, on December 27, 2017. His complete obituary may be found below.

ITLS Ohio has honored Mr. Glimcher's contributions to trauma education with the annual presentation of the Mayer Glimcher Award. Since 1994, this award has been presented annually to an individual for his or her exemplary leadership and significant contributions to trauma education on behalf of ITLS Ohio. We will present the 2018 Mayer Glimcher Award on April 14 at the Emergency Care Conference.

Mayer A. Glimcher, age 83, passed away on December 27, 2017. Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eva Glimcher. He is survived by his wife, Patty Glimcher; daughters, Terri (Tammy Mackey) Glimcher and Sue Susskind; sons, Steve (Claire) Katz, Jeff Katz, Steve (Maria) Glimcher, Craig (Eydie) Katz and Danny (Sabrina) Glimcher; brothers, Herb (DeeDee) Glimcher and Arne (Milly) Glimcher; sister, Marian Dach; grandchildren, Drell (Sarah) Cook, Carey (Marcus) Hawkins, Andrew (Erin) Samuels, Jenna (Ross) Jacobs, Josh (Elizabeth) Samuels, Adam Samuels and fiancé, Morgan, Maya and Sarah Katz, Maddy and Samantha Katz, Noah and Sasha Glimcher, Ben and Anna Katz, Karen and Mila Glimcher; great grandchildren, Aniyah, Aubree, Tyler, Kylie and Ethan; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 29th at Congregation Tifereth Israel, 1354 E. Broad St. Interment will follow at the New Agudas Achim Cemetery.
